Interview with Singer/songwriter Nil Bambu
1. What is your creative process like? How do you find inspiration?
My creative process is pretty simple. I like to stay open and not box myself too much because you never know how the magic is going to happen. By staying open, it’s easy to find inspiration, whether it be from personal experiences, things I see, experiences of others, or something as simple as how I’m feeling in that moment.
2. What is an average day for you like?
An average day for me is waking up, meditating, working on music whether it be recording, writing, visuals, or planning.
3. What have you been up to since our last interview?
Since our last interview, I’ve been staying busy. I just got back from Cali, not gonna say too much but working on really big vibes for 2021. I’ve been doing a lot of inner work and making a lot of new music and most importantly staying safe in this crazy time.
4. Where were you at when you recorded your last song?
The last song I recorded was in LA.
5. What is one thing you would like to change about the industry?
Mmm, that’s a good question.. I think making sure that artists are protected, understood, and respected is number one and also making it cool to be vulnerable and bring more soul and feel back into music is definitely something I’d like to change.
6. What's your favorite 90's R&B song and why?
Wow, this is probably the hardest question I’ve ever been asked, I can’t decide. My inner R&B conscience doesn’t feel right choosing one, but off the top of my head.. If I had to, I’d choose “Don’t Leave Me” by BlackStreet. The production and melodies alone are insane, but the depth & vulnerability is why it’s my fav. Back then, R&B was at its prime because we weren’t afraid to show emotion, especially coming from guys.
7. How has meditation and finding your inner self change your perspective on life?
Meditation and doing inner work has helped me tremendously. It’s given me foundation and I’ve learned how to ground myself especially when life seems to pull you into different directions.
8. Any updates you can give in regards to new music or future projects?
January 2021, that’s all i’ll say ;)
