Q&A With AV Queer Hits Featured Artist: SIESKI
Ambient Vibes had the opportunity to ask SIESKI some questions. I hope you enjoy it!
How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn't heard your music?
Sunny and sultry, buttery smooth tunes with a cinematic feel - I’m an indie-alt songstress with a unique sense of musicality, revealing my stories with rooted honesty.
What got you into music?
Music has been a constant companion throughout my life. I started taking piano lessons as a child, and at age 11, I branched into composing originals. I’ve always used music as a way of grounding and making sense of the world around me. It continues to be a cathartic experience to share the vulnerable parts of myself through lyrics and sounds.
Tell us about the making of the "Lady Deity' music video!
I wanted to create a video to celebrate queer-femme attraction in a joyous, sensual, and unique way. Using movement, the choreography captures the flow, the groove and the excitement of a first-meeting between two femme folks. Lit by gorgeous, blue and red lighting, the connection grows on screen, as if they are the only two people at the loft party.
What has been your favorite song to create so far?
Creating “Lady Deity” 🧚 To have lead the creation of my first music video over a short, eight week process, it feels incredible to have this art baby out in the world. I wanted to write something fun and light, reflecting my own journey into my queerness. It’s super lovely to know that people are grooving and feeling the vibes of the song in celebration of human attraction and connection.
How did you find your way into the Vizzybility Project?
Via Queer Collective, I saw a posting seeking applications for art projects to be funded by the Vizzybility grant. I submitted a 90 second video explaining my song and music video concept. Following the submission, I was asked to hop on a video call, where they revealed to me that I was one of the four winners! I was overjoyed and so excited to bring my vision to life.
If you had one message to your fans, what would it be?
I make art to connect with humans. I connect with humans to make art. I think the most beautiful thing about being alive is to be vulnerable with others. In doing so, we learn, we grow, and we get to feel that magical spark of connection. I love to share my stories with others and cultivate unique performance experiences to build a connection that is multi-faceted - thoughtful, pensive, emotional, yet also silly, light-hearted and fun.
What's next for you? Tell us everything!
My debut album is in the works! More videos, more songs, more vibes coming your way.
